QA Lead
Slipgate Ironworks has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Quality Assurance Lead to grow and manage the QA Game Team for our well-funded MMO start up. The incumbent will develop full-scale testing plans and lead team members to ensure our MMO product offering is of the highest quality. This individual will be working with all stakeholders from Production, Design and Development on testing and feedback of all product stages up to and beyond final deliverable. Candidates should be experts in the latest in QA tools, technology, standard processes and industry best practices.
The Quality Assurance Lead will manage teams of testers that will test massive multiplayer online games and high transaction enterprise web based applications.. They are also responsible for the project’s bug database and its maintenance. The QA Lead establishes the QA team’s daily testing approach to ensure quality standards are met for their assigned projects. Experience with leading an outsourced QA team is desirable. They should also be self-driven, analytical, strategic thinkers with strong technical acumen, and must be skilled at thinking big picture while managing details. This person will be responsible for making sure our game will play as an AAA title for our customers.
Major Responsibilities:
- Daily functional testing of the game and various software applications to ensure quality.
- Design and write the Test Plans and Test Cases
- Verify all aspects of a game and make sure it is up to our high quality standards.
- Ensure accurate completion of existing test cases.
- Serve as liaison between QA, Production and Development and will be in charge of assigning duties to the QA Team to ensure all parts of the product are tested.
- Utilize project related software applications to report the quality and productivity of the development process.
- Provide leadership to and directly supervise internal and external QA teams.
- Mentor and train new QA testers as required.
- Coordinates with Customer Service Representatives on any bugs found in the game or with players who report issues; verify and report issues in the bug database.
- Create and maintain all testing documentation.
- Apply effective QA methodologies and best practices to help ensure the highest possible quality with maximum efficiency.
- Ability to read and interpret large amounts of data, flow charts and design documentation.
- Maintain awareness of current software and hardware trends and consumer expectations, specifically pertaining to PC platform titles.
- Review and analyze competitive interactive massively multiplayer online game products
- Evaluate the assessment plans for new features and proposed changes. Ensuring that all assessment, technical and design documentation is up to date and accurate.
- Organizing QA focused play test
Qualifications:
- A genuine passion for gaming
- 5+ years of game industry QA work experience required
- 3+ years managing multi-disciplinary teams in a senior capacity.
- Strong understanding of and experience with QA practices including; user testing, regression testing, load testing, content testing, multi-player testing, performance testing, compatibility testing and project completeness testing.
- Specific MMO or PC online games experience
- Strong organizational and planning skills, excellent written/verbal presentation and listening skills, and the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, including non-technical ones.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Must be a team player with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, startup environment.
- Superior analytical, problem-solving, project management and leadership abilities.
- Strong understanding and experience with software game development, automation tools and QA applications.
- Should possess knowledge of XML, SQL, Python and other programming languages.
